The Shaykh Here he describes the extent of his service to his parents, however much patience it required of him. He would bring the vessel containing the milk, and if he found them sleeping, he would not wake them in order to preserve their rest and sleep. Instead, he would remain standing until they woke up, thus combining the comfort of sleep with drinking the milk.
In the hadith of Ibn 'Umar, he details this portion of this hadith, saying:Sahih Muslim 2743a meaning: he went out in search of pasture, fodder, and grass, so he strayed far from the village, contrary to his custom, and he did not return until it was evening. He said: ; this is a very precise description of his psychological state between the right of his parents and the right of his children. He said: Sahih Muslim 2743a , so he was hesitating between waking them up in order to start by giving them to drink before the children, and this would disturb them if he woke them, while on the other hand, the children were crying out from hunger; so it is as if he is saying: What should I do? Should I wake them? No, they must take precedence over the children. Should I leave the children? The children are crying and weeping. He said in the hadith of Ibn 'Umar: Sahih al-Bukhari 5974 , this is the struggle in the path of pleasing the parents; he says in his supplication and his addressing his Lord: meaning the second one.
And the other said: O Allah, if You know that I had two parents, and I used to milk for them in their vessels, so when I came to them and they were sleeping, I would stand until they woke up, and when they woke up, they would drink.
In the hadith of Ibn 'Umar, he details this portion of this hadith, saying:
One day I was obliged to go out to a distant place in search of fodder
So I milked as I used to milk, and I brought the milk, and I found that they had fallen asleep.
فحلبْتُ كما كنت أحلبُ ، وجئتُ بالحلاب ، فوجدتهما قد نامَاfound them (the parents) asleep. I milked the animals as I used to milk and brought milk to them and stood by their heads avoiding to disturb them from sleep and I did not deem it advisable to serve milk to my children before serving them. My children wept near my feet.
So this state of mine and theirs continued till the day dawned.
O Allah, if You know that I had two parents, and I used to milk for them in their vessels, so when I came to them and they were sleeping, I would stand until they woke up, and when they woke up, they would drink, and if You know that I did that hoping for Your mercy and fearing Your punishment, then relieve us, so a third of the stone was removed.
