Chapter: "Encouraging the remembrance of death, shortening one's hopes, hastening in deeds, and the virtue of a long life for one whose deeds are good"

The Shaykh : There is a hadith similar to this one from Ibn Abbas. The one mentioned by the author is weak, but the hadith of Ibn Abbas is authentic. It is his statement: It was narrated from Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him and his father) who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said to a man while admonishing him: Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah 34:92.
Eid Abbasi : You may move forward a little.
The ShaykhAl-Mustadrak lil-Hakim 42:3 Al-Hakim narrated it and said: It is authentic according to the conditions of both of them.
This hadith contains very great advice. The last part of it is the most relevant to our current situation, where he (peace be upon him) said:. When death comes, deeds are cut off, as he (peace and blessings be upon him) said in the authentic hadith: Riyad as-Salihin 949. The happy Muslim who takes a lesson from the admonition of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) benefits from a reminder of the admonitions of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), of which he may have been heedless of all, most, or some. So listen to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) as he admonishes us with his saying: Al-Mustadrak lil-Hakim 42:3?
We find, with great regret, that most of the youth today do not act on this advice; rather, they reverse and invert it. They hope to live a long life and to make up in their middle age, or even in their old age, for the obedience and the fulfillment of obligations that they missed during their youth. It has become a common occurrence to hear one person say to another: "Yes, it is too early for you, my brother," especially if he grows the beard that Allah (Mighty and Majestic) has made obligatory for every Muslim. They rush to discourage him and deter him from hastening to obey Allah in such a matter. This is an obvious matter, but there are other things. We know of many fathers who find some of their sons hastening to prayer and to the mosques while they have not yet reached the age of accountability. They say, "Yes, that is fine, but where are you going now? The world is cold, and the world is rainy." So they discourage him terribly. If not for the strength of this young man's faith, he would have responded to his father's discouragement. "I have spoiled him," he is small!! This is what they do today. As for those who responded to the admonition of the Messenger (peace be upon him) when he said:Al-Mustadrak lil-Hakim 42:3; they were the exact opposite of what we are today.

وحياتك قبل موتكWhen a man dies, his deeds come to an end, except for three: A continuous charity, knowledge by which people derive benefit, pious son who prays for him.
