The Shaykh : And in the vein of this hadith is the hadith of Ibn 'Abbas, which is after the hadith mentioned by the author and is weak. As for the hadith of Ibn 'Abbas, it is authentic, and it is his statement: "And from Ibn 'Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him and his father), he said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said to a man while admonishing him: Al-Mustadrak lil-Hakim 42:3 Al-Hakim narrated it and said: It is authentic according to the two Shaykhs. In this hadith are very great pieces of advice. The last of them is the most relevant to our current situation, where he (peace be upon him) said: When death comes, deeds are cut off, as he (may Allah's prayer and peace be upon him) said in the authentic hadith: Riyad as-Salihin 949 So the happy Muslim who takes a lesson from what the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) admonished him with benefits from a reminder of the admonitions of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). He may have been heedless of all of them, or most of them, or some of them. So listen to the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) as he admonishes us with his saying: Al-Mustadrak lil-Hakim 42:3 We find, with great regret, that the majority of young people today do not act on this advice; rather, they reverse it and turn it upside down. They hope to live a long life and to make up in their middle age, or even in their old age, for the acts of obedience and the performance of obligatory duties that they missed during their youth. It has become a common occurrence for one of us to hear a person say to another: "Hey, it's too early for you, brother," especially when it comes to... the beard that Allah the Mighty and Majestic has made obligatory for every Muslim. They rush to discourage him and divert him from hastening to obey Allah in such a matter. This is an obvious matter, but there are other things. We know of many fathers who find some of their sons hastening to prayer and to the mosques, and they have not yet reached the age of religious accountability. They say: "Hey, what's the rush? The world is rainy." So they discourage him with terrible discouragement. If not for the strength of this young man's faith, he would have responded to his father's discouragement. "He is still young," they say. This is what they do today. As for those who responded to the admonition of the Messenger (peace be upon him) when he said: Al-Mustadrak lil-Hakim 42:3 they were the exact opposite of what we are today.
