The Shaykh : And in the vein of this hadith is the hadith of Ibn 'Abbas, which is after the hadith mentioned by the author, and it is weak. As for the hadith of Ibn 'Abbas, it is authentic, and it is his statement: "And from Ibn 'Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him and his father) who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said to a man while admonishing him: Al-Mustadrak lil-Hakim 42:3 Al-Hakim narrated it and said it is authentic according to the conditions of both. In this hadith are very great pieces of advice. The last part of it is closest to what we are in, where he (peace be upon him) said: When death comes, the deed is cut off, as he (may Allah's prayers and blessings be upon him) said in the authentic hadith: Riyad as-Salihin 949 So the happy Muslim who takes a lesson from what the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) admonished him with benefits from the remembrance of the admonitions of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). He may be heedless of all of them, or most of them, or some of them. So listen to the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) how he admonishes us with his saying: Al-Mustadrak lil-Hakim 42:3 We find, with great regret, that the general youth of today do not act on this advice; rather, they reverse it and turn it upside down. They hope to live a long life and to make up in their middle age, or even in their old age, for the obedience and the performance of obligations that they miss in their youth. It has become a common thing for one of us to hear a person say to another, "You are early..." especially if he grows the beard that Allah the Mighty and Majestic has made obligatory upon every Muslim. They rush to discourage him and divert him from hastening to obey Allah in such a matter. This is an apparent matter, but there are other things. We know of many fathers who find some of their sons hastening to prayer and to the mosques, and they have not yet reached the age of accountability. They say, "You are young, where are you going? The world is rain," so they discourage them with terrible discouragement. If not for the strength of this young man's faith, he would have responded to his father's discouragement. He is young; this is what they do today. As for those who responded to the admonition of the Messenger (peace be upon him) when he said: Al-Mustadrak lil-Hakim 42:3 they were the exact opposite of what we are today.
