The Shaykh : Encouraging the Visiting of the Sick, Its Emphasis, and Encouraging the Supplication for the Sick. It was said: From Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Sahih al-Bukhari 1240, narrated by al-Bukhari, Muslim, Abu Dawud, and Ibn Majah. In a narration by Muslim: Sahih Muslim 2162b. It was asked: What are they, O Messenger of Allah? He said: Mishkat al-Masabih 1525, narrated by al-Tirmidhi and al-Nasa'i in similar terms.
This hadith, as seen from its tracing, is among the authentic hadiths regarding these matters, and we will speak about them, if Allah wills, in a manner befitting the occasion in the next lesson.
And this is sufficient, and praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds.
The rights of a Muslim on the Muslims are five: to respond to the salaam, visiting the sick, to follow the funeral processions, to accept an invitation, and to reply to those who sneeze.
حقُّ المسلم على المسلم خمس : ردُّ السلام ، وعيادة المريض ، واتباع الجنائز ، وإجابة الدعوة ، وتشميت العاطسSix are the rights of a Muslim over another Muslim
حقُّ المسلم على المسلم ستٌّWhen you meet him salute him ; when he issues an invitation to you, accept it; when he asks your advice give it to him ; when he sneezes and praises God say, ‘God have mercy on you’; when he is ill visit him ; and when he dies follow him to the grave.
إذا لقيتَه فسلِّم عليه ، وإذا دعاك فأجِبْه ، وإذا استنصحك فانصَحْ له ، وإذا عطس فحمد الله فشمِّته ، وإذا مرض فعُدْه ، وإذا مات فاتَّبعهThis hadith, as seen from its tracing, is among the authentic hadiths regarding these matters, and we will speak about them, if Allah wills, in a manner befitting the occasion in the next lesson.
