Exegesis of His saying, the Exalted: (And We have made the night a covering)
Allah the Exalted said: [Al-Naba: 10] Meaning: Allah has made this night upon the earth in the position of a garment, as if the earth wears it and it serves as a cloak for it. This is not fully known except by one who has ascended above the shadow of the earth. We have seen this in the wondrous signs when one ascends in an airplane and rises high, and the sun has set from the surface of the earth. Then, when you see the sun after rising high, you find the earth as if it has been clothed in a black garment; you see nothing of the earth, it is all darkness beneath you.Thus, by this meaning, it becomes clear the saying of Allah the Exalted: [Al-Naba: 10], As for the day, He made it a means of livelihood; people live in it seeking sustenance according to their ranks and conditions. This is from the grace of Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) upon the servants. And let us restrict ourselves to this portion of this surah.
And we ask Allah the Exalted to make it beneficial, and to make us and you among the people of the Qur'an, who are the people of Allah and His special ones, and to make us among those who read and benefit. Indeed, He is Generous and Bountiful.
And may Allah send prayers and peace upon our Prophet Muhammad, and upon his family and his Companions, and those who follow them with excellence until the Day of Judgment.
Allah the Exalted said:
And made the night as clothing
وَجَعَلْنَا اللَّيْلَ لِبَاساًAnd made the night as clothing
وَجَعَلْنَا اللَّيْلَ لِبَاساًAnd we ask Allah the Exalted to make it beneficial, and to make us and you among the people of the Qur'an, who are the people of Allah and His special ones, and to make us among those who read and benefit. Indeed, He is Generous and Bountiful.
