Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds, and may prayers and peace be upon our Prophet Muhammad, and upon his family and all his Companions.
He (may Allah have mercy on him) said: "The Book of Clothing: Chapter on the Recommendation of White Garments and the Permissibility of Red, Green, and Black. Allah the Exalted said:[Al-A'raf 7:26] And He said: [An-Nahl 16:81] It was narrated from Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Jami` at-Tirmidhi 994Hasan (Darussalam) It was narrated by Abu Dawud and al-Tirmidhi, who said: It is a good, authentic hadith."

The author (may Allah have mercy on him) said in the book *Riyad al-Salihin*: "The Book of Clothing", and this is among the best arrangements, for eating and drinking are the clothing of the inner self, while garments are the clothing of the outer self. Allah, Blessed and Exalted is He, said:[Taha 20:118-119] He said: [Taha 20:118] because hunger is the nakedness of the inner self; the emptiness of the stomach of food is its nakedness. And "you will not be naked" refers to the clothing of the outer self. And "you will not be thirsty" is the heat of the inner self, and "you will not be scorched" is the heat of the outer self. For this reason, it was confusing to some people: why did He not say, "You will not be hungry in it, nor thirsty, and you will not be naked in it, nor scorched"? But whoever perceives the meaning we have indicated will see the eloquence of the Qur'an. "You will not be hungry" and "you will not be naked" is the negation of nakedness in the inner self. "You will not be naked" is its negation in the outer self. "You will not be thirsty" is the negation of heat in the inner self. And "you will not be scorched" means you will not be exposed to the scorching sun; it is the negation of heat in the outer self. Likewise, the author (may Allah have mercy on him) began with the etiquettes of eating, then the etiquettes of drinking, then clothing, which is the covering of the outer self. He opened this book with the words of Allah the Exalted: [Al-A'raf 7:26] So Allah the Exalted mentioned two types of clothing: an outer type and an inner type, or a sensory type and a spiritual type. He mentioned that the sensory type has two divisions: a necessary division by which the private parts are covered, and a perfection division, which is the adornment, the clothing of beauty. And Allah, Glorified and Exalted is He, in His wisdom, made the children of Adam in need of clothing to cover the private parts, meaning to cover the private parts, so that a person realizes that just as he is in need of clothing to cover his sensory private parts, he is in need of clothing to cover his spiritual private parts, which are sins. May Allah protect us and you from them. This is among the wisdom of Allah. For this reason, you will find that most creatures other than Adam have something that covers their skin, whether hair, wool, down, or feathers, because they are not in need of remembering the spiritual nakedness. Unlike the children of Adam, who are in need of remembering the spiritual private part, which is the private part of sins. May Allah protect us and you from it. [Al-A'raf 7:26] meaning: your private parts. meaning: garments of adornment and beauty in addition to the necessary clothing. This is the spiritual clothing. meaning: better than the outer clothing, whether it is of the necessary kind, such as that which covers the private parts, or of the perfection kind. And if the clothing of piety is better than the outer clothing, then a person must think about it. We find that we strive to keep the outer clothing clean. If a person’s garment gets a dirty spot, he goes to wash it with water and soap and whatever cleanser he can afford. But the clothing of piety, many people do not care about it; they may become clean or dirty, and they do not care about it, even though this, as Allah the Mighty and Majestic said, is the good. It is an indication that one must take care of the clothing of piety more than one must take care of the outer, sensory clothing of the body, because the clothing of piety is that which is best. Here he said: and he did not say "the clothing of piety is the best," because "that" is a demonstrative pronoun used for the distant, indicating the high rank of this clothing. As He said: [Al-Baqarah 2:2] and He did not say "this book," indicating the high rank of the Qur'an. Likewise, His saying: indicates the high rank of the clothing of piety. A person should take care of this clothing, the clothing of the piety of Allah the Mighty and Majestic, and constantly think about his bad deeds and sins. Cleaning bad deeds and sins is easier than cleaning outer garments. Outer garments require effort, toil, payment, and preparing water and cleanser. But this matter is very easy: [Ali 'Imran 3:135] seeking forgiveness and repentance erase everything that has passed, as the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to Amr ibn al-As: We ask Allah the Exalted to accept our repentance and yours by His grace and generosity.
Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds, and may prayers and peace be upon our Prophet Muhammad, and upon his family and all his Companions.
