The Shaykh :[Al-Furqan 25:62] One succeeds the other. The night comes and the day goes, and the day comes and the night goes. By the power of whom? By the power of Allah (Exalted and Majestic is He). And Allah has made this clear to us in His saying: [Al-Qasas 28:71]? The answer is: There is no god but Allah. No one is able to do this except Allah. If all the nations were to gather with their kinds, types, and forces, they would not be able to prevent the sun for even a single moment, nor hasten it for even a single moment [Al-Qasas 28:71]. [Al-Qasas 28:72]. By whom? By Allah (Mighty and Majestic). [Al-Qasas 28:72-73]. Praise be to Allah. So Allah made the night and the day a succession. What does "succession" mean? It means: one succeeds the other; this comes and that goes, and this comes and that goes. Then there is another verse: [Al-Hajj 22:61] Sometimes the day increases and the night decreases, and sometimes the night decreases and the day increases, and sometimes they are equal. Who moves the sun so that the night or the day becomes long? Allah (Mighty and Majestic). [Al-Furqan 25:62] [Al-Furqan 25:62] Meaning: those are the people who do not thank Allah. But if they were to reflect, they would remember. If they were to reflect upon this great divine power, that Allah the Exalted makes the night and the day a succession, they would remember. [Al-Furqan 25:62] That is: He intended worship. Therefore, we have acts of worship linked to the alternation of night and day. When is Fajr? At the dawn of Fajr. When is Zuhr? At the zenith of the sun. When is Maghrib? At the setting of the sun. When is 'Isha'? At the setting of the twilight. When is 'Asr? When the shadow of every object becomes equal to its length. So Allah the Exalted made this alternation for whoever wishes to remember, because a person, merely by reflecting—even if he is not a believer—must know by his intellect that the alternation of night and day is by the wisdom of a Wise Manager, (Mighty and Majestic).
