The Ruling on Donating the Expenses of a Voluntary Pilgrimage

Is it better to donate the expenses of a voluntary Hajj, or is it better to perform the Hajj with them?The Shaykh: Does a person perform Hajj on behalf of himself?The questioner: Instead of spending the money in the cause of Allah, he takes it and performs Hajj.For example: If he spends five thousand or three thousand on Hajj, he should give it in charity!
Hajj is better than charity, except if there is a dire necessity among the Muslims; in that case, relieving the dire necessity of the Muslims is better than a voluntary Hajj.
