The ruling on the statement that bad deeds erase good deeds

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
It is reported that good deeds erase bad deeds, so do bad deeds erase good deeds?
Good deeds erase bad deeds, wiping them out completely,As the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: (The five daily prayers, the Friday prayer to the next Friday, and Ramadan to the next Ramadan, are expiations for what lies between them, provided the major sins are avoided).
As for the claim that bad deeds erase good deeds, that is not the case. However, when weighed on the Day of Resurrection, they may outweigh the good deeds.Allah the Exalted said:
And We place the scales of justice for the Day of Resurrectionوَنَضَعُ الْمَوَازِينَ الْقِسْطَ لِيَوْمِ الْقِيَامَةِ
[Al-Anbiya: 47], so the good deeds and bad deeds are weighed. Perhaps the bad deeds will be more numerous than the good deeds, in which case the person deserves to enter the Fire and be punished therein according to the measure of his sin. Perhaps the good deeds and bad deeds will be equal, in which case the person will be among the people of the 'Arafah, whose good and bad deeds are equal; they do not enter the Fire nor Paradise except after Allah Mighty and Majestic wills. Perhaps the good deeds will be more numerous, in which case the person will be among the people of Paradise.
