What is the meaning of {So those are the ones for whom Allah will replace their evil deeds with good ones}?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
How does the replacement mentioned in the saying of Allah the Exalted:
For them Allah will replace their evil deeds with goodفَأُولَئِكَ يُبَدِّلُ اللَّهُ سَيِّئَاتِهِمْ حَسَنَاتٍ
[Al-Furqan: 70] take place?

Answer:
It is as it appears on the surface. If a believer repents from his evil deeds, believes, and does good, Allah replaces every evil deed with a good one. So if he had a hundred evil deeds and repented from them, Allah gives him a hundred good deeds in their place, replacing his evil deeds with good ones:
Except for those who repent, believe and do righteous work. For them Allah will replace their evil deeds with goodإِلَّا مَنْ تَابَ وَآمَنَ وَعَمِلَ عَمَلًا صَالِحًا فَأُولَئِكَ يُبَدِّلُ اللَّهُ سَيِّئَاتِهِمْ حَسَنَاتٍ
[Al-Furqan 25:70]
. So for every evil deed, Allah gives a good one in its place because of his repentance from it. He brought forth the good deed, which is the repentance, so it took the place of the evil deed.
