The Ruling on Free Mixing of Men and Women Out of Necessity

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Some of the common people, when they are told that free mixing or shaking hands with female relatives who are not mahrams is wrong, raise a doubt,He says: saying, "What if my neighbor's wife is sick, and her husband is absent, and she has no mahrams with her? Should I leave her alone and not take her to the doctor?"
There is no doubt that free mixing with women who are not mahrams and shaking hands with them is not permissible, and seclusion is more severe and greater, but the rulings differ in cases of dire necessity.Allah the Exalted said: Allah the Exalted said:
while He has explained in detail to you what He has forbidden you, excepting that to which you are compelledوَقَدْ فَصَّلَ لَكُمْ مَا حَرَّمَ عَلَيْكُمْ إِلَّا مَا اضْطُرِرْتُمْ إِلَيْهِ
[Al-An'am: 119] So if a neighbor's wife is in dire need of me speaking to her and entering her home to take her to the doctor or the like, there is nothing wrong with it, provided there is no fear of fitnah (trial, discord or temptation). And if he has his wife with him, he should seek her help until the seclusion is removed.
