Turning off the loudspeakers after the iqamah

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Your Eminence! Some of the brothers in some mosques turn off the microphones after the iqamah, arguing that they do not want to disturb the residents of the neighborhood. So we discussed it with the imams, and they said: It is necessary, because we have heard a fatwa from Your Eminence, Shaykh Ibn Uthaymeen, regarding turning off the microphones after the iqamah?
Yes, that is correct. We hold that the prayer should not be amplified from the minarets via microphone; because of the harm this causes to the mosques near the mosque, and to the people in the houses who are disturbed by it. For the people in the houses may have someone who is sick and wants to sleep, or they may have children who are disturbed by this sound. Then what is the benefit of this: Is he praying for the people outside, or for the people of the mosque? He is praying for the people of the mosque.

Therefore: What is the benefit? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came out to his Companions one night and saw them praying and raising their voices,So he said: (Do not harm one another in your recitation).

As for the iqamah, there is no harm, although some of the brothers said: It is a religious innovation, because the iqamah with a loudspeaker from the minaret is as if the iqamah was made in the minaret, and the iqamah is for those present. But I hold that there is no harm in the iqamah.Because his saying (peace and blessings be upon him): (When you hear the iqamah, proceed to the prayer) indicates that the iqamah is heard from outside the mosque. As for the entire prayer, there is no doubt that it harms people, especially in the prayers where the recitation is loud. We have heard of a man who was safe from the recitation of the mosque next to him, and we have heard of a man who bowed when the mosque next to him bowed. All of this clearly has a harm.
