The ruling on one who is appointed as the imam of a mosque but is occupied and delegates the task to someone else
A young man was appointed as the imam of a mosque. Due to the multitude of his engagements, he delegated a man who was more capable and had better memorization of the Book of Allah to be the imam in his place. When he receives the salary, he gives this man half of it and puts the other half toward the service of da'wah. What is the ruling on this?
This man's action is an error in that he commits himself to the one in authority to perform the imamah of this mosque and then delegates it to someone else. It is obligatory for him to relinquish the mosque or to fulfill the obligation by praying all the prayers in it.
