Leaving the mosque and praying in another mosque whose imam is better
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The second question of fatwa number ( 16843 )
Q 2: There are some Muslims who do not pray on Friday, on the two festivals, or in the Ramadan tarawih prayers in this mosque, and they go to other mosques; because these two imams are not well-versed in the Prophetic hadiths, nor are they bearers of the Book of Allah, as they are teachers in an Arabic language school for Arabs, and in a Turkish language school for Turks. Is there a sin on the one who leaves this mosque and goes to another?
A 2 : It is better for the Muslim to pray behind the imam who is proficient in leading the prayer, whether that imam is in the mosque adjacent to his residence or elsewhere, provided that his going to the mosque far from his residence does not result in harm; such as
causing embarrassment to the imam of the adjacent mosque or to his congregation by his leaving them for others. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
