The Condition of Ablution for Touching the Mushaf for Those of Legal Age
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Honorable Shaykh! Regarding touching the mushaf and reading from it, is ablution obligatory? And should students in schools be ordered to perform ablution? May Allah reward you.
As for reading from the mushaf, ablution is not a condition for it. As for touching the mushaf, ablution is necessary! Accordingly, a person can hold the mushaf in his hands while wearing gloves, or he can have a handkerchief with which he turns the pages of the mushaf and reads.
As for children, many scholars have granted a dispensation for them to touch the Qur'an without ablution,And they said: because they are not legally accountable, for the pen has been lifted from three categories.
And some scholars said: Children should not touch the mushaf except with ablution; because this is respect for the mushaf, and respect for the mushaf is obligatory upon everyone.
But we say: If it is possible for them to perform ablution, that is undoubtedly better and safer. If it is not possible, there is no harm.
