Guidelines for Family Travel Outside the Country
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : Your Eminence! What is the ruling on families traveling outside the Islamic countries, given that there are passports where the woman's picture is examined, and the man may ask the woman to uncover her face to verify her identity? Is this permissible if there is no dire necessity?
First: We do not think a person should travel to a country outside his own except for a pressing need or a stronger benefit; this is because traveling to foreign countries incurs large expenses with no cause, thus becoming a waste of money, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade the waste of money.
Second: This travel may occupy them from things they do in their own country, such as maintaining family ties, and seeking knowledge if they are seeking knowledge.
The Shaykh : And so on, and there is no doubt that being occupied from something beneficial is considered a loss in a person's life.
Third: The countries they travel to may be countries affected by colonialism in terms of morals and ideas, so harm occurs to a person in his morals and ideas, and this is the most severe of the matters feared in traveling abroad.
Therefore, I say to this questioner and others: We have, and praise be to Allah, resorts in our country that suffice for the outside, with little expense and benefit to the citizens.
