Exegesis of His saying, the Exalted: (Indeed, Hell was a watchpost)
Then Allah the Mighty and Majestic said: [Surat al-Naba: 21] Meaning: it is a place of observation and preparation for the defiantly disobedient. Hell is one of the names of the Fire, which has many names. It was given this name because it possesses intense heat and darkness due to its blackness and depth—may Allah protect us and you from it—and it is a watchpost for the defiantly disobedient, which Allah the Mighty and Majestic has prepared for them from now on.So it exists, as Allah the Exalted said: [Surat al-Baqarah: 24], and (the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) saw it when it was shown to him while he was praying the eclipse prayer. He saw in it a woman being punished for a cat she had confined; she neither fed it nor released it to eat from the creatures of the earth. He also saw in it 'Amr ibn Luhayy al-Khuza'i dragging his intestines in the Fire) -Meaning: his intestines; and he was the first to introduce shirk (associating partners with Allah) to the Arabs.
