Exegesis of the saying of Allah the Exalted: (And when the seas are set ablaze)]

Allah the Exalted said: [Surat al-Takwir: 6] (The seas) is the plural of sea, and it was pluralized because of their greatness and abundance, for they represent approximately three-quarters of the earth or more. These great seas, when the Day of Resurrection comes, will be set ablaze—Meaning: a great fire will be kindled and burn; and at that time the earth will dry up and no water will remain in it, because the waters of its great seas will be set ablaze until they become fire.
