The Ruling on Delving Deep into the Seas, Spirits, and the Like

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Your Eminence! What is the ruling on delving deep into the seas, as well as spirits, the knowledge of the heavens, and the like?
As for delving deep into what can be comprehended, there is nothing wrong with it, provided it does not occupy one from what is more important than it. It is known that the seas can be comprehended in the sciences because they are tangible matters, as are the celestial bodies, such as the sun and the moon and others. As for what cannot be comprehended, delving deep into it is excessive asceticism and a waste of time, such as a person delving deep into matters concerning the attributes of Allah (Mighty and Majestic), or matters concerning the Last Day, or matters concerning the issues of the grave and the barzakh (the interval between death and resurrection); because this cannot be clarified. This is the detail in this matter.
