Exegesis of the saying of Allah the Exalted: (And when the buried alive is asked)]
Allah the Exalted said: [At-Takwir: 8-9] ,The buried alive is: The buried alive is the female who is buried while still alive. This was because the people in the pre-Islamic age of ignorance, due to their ignorance, their bad opinion of Allah, and their inability to bear the burden, would mock one another when a female was born to them. [An-Nahl: 58] filled with sorrow and grief: [An-Nahl: 59] meaning: he hides from them [An-Nahl: 59] when it is said to one of them: "We bring you good news that Allah the Exalted has brought you a female," he became sad and worried, filled with grief and anxiety, and began to think: Will he keep this female in humiliation and disgrace, or will he bury her in the earth and be rid of her? So some of them did this, and some did that. Among them—may Allah protect us from it—were those who buried the girl while she was alive, either before she could distinguish things or after she could distinguish things, until some of them would dig a hole for his daughter, and if some of the dirt hit his beard, he would shake it off his beard while digging for her to bury her, and there would be no mercy for her in his heart. This indicates to you that the pre-Islamic age of ignorance was a lowly matter, for even wild beasts show tenderness to their young, and these people did not show tenderness to their children.
