Exegesis of the saying of Allah the Exalted: (And those who were given the Scripture did not differ except after clear proof had come to them)]
Allah the Exalted said: [Al-Bayyinah: 4] So: Allah informed in this verse that it is not possible for these disbelievers from the People of the Book and the polytheists to be separated from their state until the clear proof comes to them. So when the clear proof came to them, did they separate from their religion?Meaning: From their disbelief and their associating partners with Allah?Listen to the answer:[Al-Bayyinah 98:4] Meaning: When the clear proof came to them, did they believe? No, but they differed. Some of them believed and some of them disbelieved. Among the Christians, some believed, such as the Najashi, the King of Abyssinia, and among the Jews, some also believed, such as Abdullah ibn Salam (may Allah be pleased with him). So some of them believed and some of them disbelieved. Whoever Allah knew from him that he desired good and desired the religion for Allah, he believed and was guided to faith. And whoever was not so, he was guided to disbelief. Likewise, among the polytheists, some believed. And how many of the polytheists of Quraysh believed! So the people, before the sending of the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him), remained in their state of disbelief until the clear proof came to them. Then when the clear proof came to them, what happened? They differed and divided. Here Allah the Exalted said: [Al-Imran: 105] .
And the rest of the speech on this surah will come, if Allah wills, because the time for questions has now arrived.
Allah the Exalted said:
Nor did those who were given the Scripture become divided until after there had come to them clear evidence.
وَمَا تَفَرَّقَ الَّذِينَ أُوتُوا الْكِتَابَ إِلَّا مِنْ بَعْدِ مَا جَاءَتْهُمُ الْبَيِّنَةُNor did those who were given the Scripture become divided until after there had come to them clear evidence.
وَمَا تَفَرَّقَ الَّذِينَ أُوتُوا الْكِتَابَ إِلَّا مِنْ بَعْدِ مَا جَاءَتْهُمُ الْبَيِّنَةُAnd do not be like the ones who became divided and differed after the clear proofs had come to them. And those will have a great punishment.
And the rest of the speech on this surah will come, if Allah wills, because the time for questions has now arrived.
