Reading from the author's words, with commentary and collation of manuscripts: "And He, the Exalted, said

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The reader: "Among the Ansar in the pre-Islamic age of ignorance. And Abu al-'Aliyah said: The polytheists of the Arabs, when they were telling one another stories, one of them would say to his companion: 'Lend me your ear,' so they were prohibited from saying that. And al-Dahhak said the same."
All of this makes it clear that Muslims were prohibited from saying this phrase because the Jews used to say it. Even if it was ugly when said by the Jews and not ugly when said by the Muslims, it was prohibited because of the resemblance to the disbelievers in saying it, and because it paves the way for them to achieve their objective"
.

The Shaykh : This is the position the author (may Allah have mercy on him) took regarding the reason for the prohibition of saying "Lend me your ear." It was also said that the reason for the prohibition is so that the listener does not think it is from recklessness (ru'una) rather than from consideration (mura'ata). Since this phrase carries the possibility of this defective meaning, they were prohibited from it. Accordingly, there is no obstacle to the reason for the prohibition being the resemblance to the Jews who say to the Messenger, "Lend me your ear," mocking him, and also because of the possibility of this defective meaning in this phrase. So how many causes does the prohibition have? Two causes. Yes.
The reader: "And He, the Exalted, said:
Indeed, those who have divided their religion and become sects - you, [O Muhammad], are not [associated] with them in anything. Their affair is only [left] to Allah; then He will inform them about what they used to do.
[Al-An'am 6:159]
. And it is known that the disbelievers divided their religion and became sects, as He, the Exalted, said:
And do not be like the ones who became divided and differed after the clear proofs had come to them
[Ali 'Imran 3:105]
.
And He said:
Nor did those who were given the Scripture become divided until after there had come to them clear evidence.
[Al-Bayyinah 98:4]
.
And He said:
And from those who say, "We are Christians" We took their covenant; but they forgot a portion of that of which they were reminded. So We caused among them animosity and hatred until the Day of Resurrection
[Al-Ma'idah 5:14]
.
And He said regarding the Jews:
And that which has been revealed to you from your Lord will surely increase many of them in transgression and disbelief. And We have cast among them animosity and hatred until the Day of Resurrection
[Al-Ma'idah 5:64]
"

The Shaykh : Yes.
The student: ... .

The Shaykh : The one I have is a bit lacking in diacritical marks; please add them.
The student: Okay, Shaykh, the brothers

The Shaykh : The brothers
And those who were given وما تفرق
.
The student: ... .

The Shaykh : Yes, they divided. Okay, pay attention to this:
Nor did those who were given the Scripture become divided until after there had come to them clear evidence.
[Al-Bayyinah 98:4]
. It is known from these verses that the division of the Muslim community resembles that of the Jews and the Christians. The Muslim community has undoubtedly divided since religious innovations occurred in the late period of the Companions, then the Tabi'un, then the generation after the Tabi'un, and they grew and multiplied at that time and after. So the Muslim community became similar to whom? To the Jews and the Christians in their division. They divided the religion until some of them declared others disbelievers, some declared others innovators, and some declared others open sinners. This indicates that it is obligatory for us to be one community. Yes.
