The Dead Hearing the Living

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Your Eminence! A question was raised in the Dawah office: one of the Hindus raised a doubt,He says: Do the dead hear? And if they do hear, is their hearing in a specific place and at specific locations, for example, or is it general hearing?
The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) informed us that when the dead person is buried and the two angels come to him,He said: (Indeed, he hears the clatter of your sandals) meaning: those who are leaving him, and this is hearing at the time of burial.
And he (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) stood over the slain of Quraysh in the well of Badr, and he called out to them by their names and the names of their fathers,And when the Companions consulted him about that, he said: (You are not more able to hear what I say than they are) , and it was narrated from the Prophet (may Allah’s prayer and peace be upon him) that he said: (No man passes by the grave of a man he knew in this world and then greets him, except that Allah returns his spirit to him so that he returns the greeting) , and the scholars differed regarding the authenticity and weakness of this hadith; some of them weakened it, and if it is weak, then there is no evidence in it, and some of them said it is good, and some of them authenticated it,So we say: What the Sunnah has brought, we believe in it,And what the Sunnah has not brought, we say: Allah knows best.
But even if they do hear, they do not benefit others, meaning that they do not supplicate to Allah for them, nor do they seek forgiveness from Allah for them, nor are they able to intercede for them.
And I only said that so that these grave-worshippers would not cling to what I said,And they say: Since they hear—then this is one of the close friends of Allah, we ask him to ask Allah for us or to intercede for us with Allah, so this is not established at all; because when a person dies, his deeds are cut off, even the Messenger (may Allah’s prayer and peace be upon him), when he died, his deeds were cut off, but the Messenger (may Allah’s prayer and peace be upon him) left behind for his Ummah a great knowledge by which everyone of the Ummah who responds to the call acts,And he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: (
Except from three: A continuing charity, or knowledge from which benefit is derived, or a righteous child who prays for him), and no one has left behind for the creation knowledge from which they benefit more than what the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) left for his Ummah.
