The ruling on appointing a proxy for Hajj on behalf of one who is able

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
A person bequeathed to another person to perform Hajj on his behalf, while he is able to do so. Is that permissible? The Shaykh: Is it the obligatory Hajj or a voluntary one?The questioner: The obligatory one.

The Shaykh: If a person appoints another person to perform Hajj on his behalf, and it is an obligatory duty, and the one who appointed the proxy is able to perform it, then it is not valid, and it does not suffice for him in place of the obligation of Islam. It is obligatory for one who is able to perform Hajj with his own body. As for one who is unable, if his inability is not expected to end, such as an old person or a person suffering from an illness that is not expected to be cured, then in that case he appoints a proxy. But if the inability is temporary, such as a temporary illness, then he waits until this illness ends and he performs Hajj with his own body.
