Ruling on the statement: Every prophet who met the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) is a Companion

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
His Eminence the Shaykh: One of the authors quoted from Imam al-Dhahabi in his book *Tajrid Asma' al-Sahabah*: that 'Isa ibn Maryam is a Companion and a prophet.
And as a justification for him being a Companion? He said: Because he met the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and greeted him.So the question is: Are all the prophets who met the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) given the definition of Companions, as well as the believers among the jinn?
I see that this is an overstretch; counting 'Isa ibn Maryam (peace be upon him) among the Companions is an overstretch; because all the prophets saw the Prophet (peace be upon him) and greeted him.Meaning: Many of them saw him on the night of the Ascension, and the Messenger ascended with his body, and he truly saw them and spoke to them and they spoke to him and greeted them and they greeted him.So do we say: Is Adam a Companion, and Yahya a Companion, and 'Isa a Companion, and Musa a Companion, and Ibrahim a Companion?! Moreover, describing 'Isa (peace be upon him) as a prophet and messenger from the resolute ones is better than describing him as a Companion; he is in no need of being described as a Companion, and I do not know where this insinuation came from?Because this necessitates that we not say: That Abu Bakr is the best of this Ummah.
And there is no doubt that the Rafidah love this; they love it not to be said that Abu Bakr is the best of this Ummah. And we say: The best of this Ummah is Abu Bakr, whereas 'Isa ibn Maryam is like the Messenger (peace be upon him) in his rank, and although the Messenger is the best of the messengers, his rank as a messenger is stronger and better than the rank of being a Companion. And if we wanted to say it this way, we would say: Everyone whom the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) met on the night of the Ascension, all of them are Companions.

I see: That this is affectation and an overstretch, and 'Ali ibn Abi Talib and others of the Companions said: [The best of this Ummah after its Prophet is Abu Bakr] and 'Ali ibn Abi Talib used to preach on the pulpit and say: [The best of this Ummah is Abu Bakr] and likewise Ibn 'Umar, it is narrated from him that they used to choose in the time of the Messenger (peace be upon him) and say: [The best of this Ummah is Abu Bakr] in the time of the Messenger.
Glory be to You, O Allah, and praise be to You. I bear witness that there is no god but You. I seek Your forgiveness and turn to You in repentance.
