Exegesis of Verses from Surat al-Naba'

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions, and upon those who follow them with excellence until the Day of Judgment.

To proceed: For we are on this day.
Thursday, the eighteenth of the month of Jumada al-Ula, in the year (1413 AH), we meet with our brothers for the third time this month, and we ask Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) to make it blessed and beneficial.
We continue in the exegesis of Surat al-Naba',where we stopped at the saying of Allah the Exalted:
(31) Indeed, for the righteous is attainment - (32) Gardens and grapevines (33) And full-breasted [companions] of equal ageإِنَّ لِلْمُتَّقِينَ مَفَازاً * حَدَائِقَ وَأَعْنَاباً * وَكَوَاعِبَ أَتْرَاباً
[al-Naba': 31-33] .
up to the end of what Allah (Mighty and Majestic) mentioned.

These verses came after His saying:
(21) Indeed, Hell has been lying in wait (22) For the transgressors, a place of return,إِنَّ جَهَنَّمَ كَانَتْ مِرْصَاداً * لِلطَّاغِينَ مَآباً
[al-Naba': 21-22] , and this is because the Noble Qur'an is *muthani* (doubled), in which matters are repeated; when the reward is mentioned, the punishment is mentioned, and when the punishment is mentioned, the reward is mentioned, and when the attributes of the believers are mentioned, the attributes of the disbelievers are mentioned, and so on; so that when a person reads the Qur'an, he is both desirous and fearful. When he reads what contains the reward for the believers, he desires, hopes, and anticipates, and when he reads what contains the punishment of the disbelievers, he fears, so that he proceeds toward Allah the Exalted between fear and hope, not feeling safe from the scheme of Allah and not despairing of the mercy of Allah.

The Imam Ahmad ibn Hanbal (may Allah have mercy on him) said: A person should be between fear and hope in his worship of his Lord, for whichever of the two prevails, its owner is destroyed.
