Exegesis of His saying, the Exalted: (Indeed, We have warned you of a near punishment)

Allah the Exalted said:
Indeed, We have warned you of a near punishment
[Al-Naba: 40] Meaning: We have warned you of a near punishment, which is the punishment of the Day of Resurrection. In reality, it is near; even if one remained in this world for millions of years, it is still near:
It will be, on the Day they see it, as though they had not remained [in the world] except for an afternoon or a morning thereof.
[Al-Nazi'at: 46] . This punishment of which Allah has warned us is near; there is nothing between a person and it except that he dies, and a person does not know when he will die. He may reach the morning and not the evening, or reach the evening and not the morning. For this reason, we must be decisive in our deeds and make use of the opportunity before it is too late.

Allah the Exalted said:
on the Day when a man will observe what his hands have put forthيَوْمَ يَنظُرُ الْمَرْءُ مَا قَدَّمَتْ يَدَاهُ
[Al-Naba: 40] the person,Meaning: Every person will look at what his hands have put forward, and he will take his book and know his destiny.
[It will be said], "Read your record. Sufficient is yourself against you this Day as accountant."
[Al-Isra: 14] And the disbeliever, from the intensity of what he sees of terror and what he witnesses of punishment,He says:
Oh, I wish that I were dust!"يَا لَيْتَنِي كُنتُ تُرَابًا
[Al-Naba: 40] Meaning: I wish I had not been created, or I wish I had not been resurrected; or when he sees the animals between whom Allah judges, then he says: Be dust. At that time, he wishes to be like the animals. His saying:
Oh, I wish that I were dust!"يَا لَيْتَنِي كُنتُ تُرَابًا
[Al-Naba: 40] It carries three meanings: The first meaning:
Oh, I wish that I were dust!"يَا لَيْتَنِي كُنتُ تُرَابًا
[Al-Naba: 40] Meaning: So why was I created? Because man was created from dust.

The second meaning:
Oh, I wish that I were dust!"يَا لَيْتَنِي كُنتُ تُرَابًا
[Al-Naba: 40] So why was I resurrected?Meaning: I was dust in the cavities of the graves.

Or the third meaning: When he sees the animals between whom Allah has judged and said to them, "Be dust," and they became dust, he says:
Oh, I wish that I were dust!"يَا لَيْتَنِي كُنتُ تُرَابًا
[Al-Naba: 40] Meaning: Just as these animals were. And Allah knows best.
And up to here ends Surat al-Naba, and in it are admonitions and wisdoms and verses of Allah, Mighty and Majestic, that are a cause for certainty and faith. We ask Allah to benefit us and you with His Book, and to make it an admonition for our hearts and a healing for what is in our breasts, for He is Generous and Kind, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, and upon his family and his Companions, and upon those who follow them with excellence until the Day of Judgment.
