The Importance of Verifying News

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, and upon his family and his Companions, and upon those who follow them with excellence until the Day of Judgment.

To proceed: This is the first session in the month of Jumada al-Ula of the year (1414 AH), which takes place every Thursday of every week. We ask Allah, Glorified and Exalted is He, to reward everyone for the research and learning they present, and we inform you all that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: (Whoever takes a path in search of knowledge, Allah will make easy for him a path to Paradise) So we ask Allah to make that easy for us and for you by His grace and generosity.

We say: Indeed, Allah, Glorified and Exalted is He, said in His Book:
Woe to every sinful liarوَيْلٌ لِكُلِّ أَفَّاكٍ أَثِيمٍ
[Al-Jathiyah: 7] The *affak* is the one who is given to lying, and *ifk* is lying, and it is narrated from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that he said: (It is enough for a person to be a liar if he relates everything he hears) The meaning of this is that the person who relates everything he hears will burden himself with lies; because not everything that is said and not everything that is transmitted is true, but much of the news, especially with emotions and feelings, becomes lies, and is added to or subtracted from.
