The Ruling on Ramadan Feasts

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
A man has passed away and had designated a feast in Ramadan as charity. What is the ruling on it?

The correct thing to say is: Passed away; For Allah the Exalted said:
Say: The Angel of Death will take your soulsقُلْ يَتَوَفَّاكُمْ مَلَكُ الْمَوْتِ
[al-Sajdah: 11] ,And he said:
Allah takes the souls at the time of their deathاللَّهُ يَتَوَفَّى الْأَنْفُسَ حِينَ مَوْتِهَا
[al-Zumar: 42] .
As for if the intention is to feed the poor, there is nothing wrong with it. But if the intention is to hold a celebration to which neighbors and the rich are invited, this is a religious innovation (bid'ah). And there is another thing that some people do: And that is to slaughter an animal like the 'Id sacrifice, and this is a more severe innovation than the first; because the slaughter of 'Id sacrifices is only for the festival of sacrifice ('Id al-Adha). Then, it is recommended for students of knowledge to spread among the general public that the dinner for the parents in Ramadan is not everything! Your supplication for your parents in the tarawih prayer or the tahajjud prayer is far better than slaughtering ten camels for them.
