Ruling on leaving the congregational prayer due to a suspected illness

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
A man is ill, and if he smells perfume, his illness worsens. His doctor advised him not to go out to the congregation for forty days until he recovers from his illness; this is because if he goes to the mosque and smells the perfume of the worshippers, he becomes ill. What is your opinion, may Allah preserve you?

It is not permissible to act upon this opinion, meaning: Regarding leaving the congregation, and not for just one day. Yes, if a person goes out and feels that his illness is increasing or that his recovery is being delayed, this is a temporary condition, and it is ruled upon according to what that condition requires at the time it exists. And as for saying to the person: As for completing the treatment by not praying with the congregation, this is not accepted absolutely, and it is not permissible to act upon it. As for perfume, people in the past used to ward it off by carrying with them what is known as *hulayt*, which a person inhales. So whenever he smelled perfume, he would inhale the *hulayt* until the effect of the perfume was removed from him.
