[The Meaning of the Hadith: (Both of His Hands Are Right)]

His Eminence the Shaykh: It is mentioned in a hadith describing the Hand of Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) that both of His Hands are right,And it is mentioned in another hadith in Sahih Muslim: (That Allah (Mighty and Majestic) on the Day of Resurrection will grasp the heavens and the earth with His right hand, and His left hand will remain empty) How is the reconciliation between the two hadiths?

This is not the text of the hadith; rather, its text is as follows: (Allah grasps the heavens with His right hand and the earth with His left) The reconciliation between the two hadiths is clear: Allah the Exalted has a right hand and a left hand, but both hands are right,Meaning: a source of blessing, good, and mercy. Therefore, no one should imagine that if He has a left hand, His left hand is weaker than His right hand, as is the case with created beings. The noblest of creation are human beings, and a person’s left hand is weaker than his right hand. For this reason, a person is prohibited from eating with his left hand, or drinking with his left hand, or taking with his left hand, or giving with his left hand. Since this is the characteristic of the left hand for humans, this misconception was removed by the saying of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him): (Both of His Hands Are Right) .
