The Ruling on Games and Music on the Computer

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
We are a group of young men who came to visit you from Riyadh out of love for Allah. We ask Allah to accept from us and from you.
During our visits—truthfully—in Riyadh, we find some young men gathered around certain games. These games involve devices,Like the computer called: namely computers. This computer contains some information that is beneficial to them, and some of it is just games. We find them sitting on these things during our visits, and during the games, some music appears from time to time. They were inquiring about this matter! So we want the answer from you?
As for if this computer is beneficial, that is good. And this may perhaps be among the things that should be suggested to those who manage the rest houses that the brother asked about first.
And as for the thing that is not beneficial, it is idle talk, and it is counted against a person from his lifespan.
And as for what is forbidden, one must refrain from it. So if this music comes, the volume must be lowered so that it is not heard.
And praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds.
And may Allah send blessings and peace upon our Prophet Muhammad, and upon his family and all his Companions.
May Allah make me and you among those who benefit from knowledge and act upon it. Indeed, He is capable of all things.
