Exegesis of the saying of Allah the Exalted: (And complete the count and proclaim the greatness of Allah for what He has guided you to, and perhaps you will be grateful)
and His saying, the Exalted: [Surat al-Baqarah: 185] Meaning: the count of Ramadan. The benefit of this phrase is that we do not rush to break the fast. For example, if one witness testifies to the entry of the month of Shawwal on the night of the thirtieth of Ramadan, we do not accept his testimony until another witness comes who testifies that he saw the crescent of the month of Shawwal. Then we act according to their testimony, and we have completed the count.
Then Allah the Exalted said: [Surat al-Baqarah: 185] And this is after completing the count. When the sun sets on the night of 'Id al-Fitr, it is prescribed for people to proclaim the greatness of Allah (Mighty and Majestic) for what He has guided them to; because His guidance for them is a great blessing that deserves gratitude: [Surat al-Baqarah: 185].
We ask Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) to complete for us and for you the fasting of Ramadan and the standing in night prayer in the best manner, and that we perform them with faith and seeking reward. Indeed, He is capable of all things.
and His saying, the Exalted:
And that you complete the count
وَلِتُكْمِلُوا الْعِدَّةَThen Allah the Exalted said:
to glorify Allah for that [to] which He has guided you
وَلِتُكَبِّرُوا اللَّهَ عَلَى مَا هَدَاكُمْAnd perhaps you will be grateful
وَلَعَلَّكُمْ تَشْكُرُونَWe ask Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) to complete for us and for you the fasting of Ramadan and the standing in night prayer in the best manner, and that we perform them with faith and seeking reward. Indeed, He is capable of all things.
