Ruling on breaking the fast for the traveler in Ramadan
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
His Eminence the Shaykh: If you are a traveler and you stay for three days, do you have the right to break your fast while traveling?
If you are a traveler, you have the right to break your fast during the journey and in the town where you stayed. For example: If you went to Makkah for 'Umrah for five or six days, you may break your fast in Makkah; because the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) conquered Makkah in the eighth year of the Hijrah, on the eighteenth or twentieth of the month of Ramadan, and he remained not fasting for the rest of the month, and did not fast, but rather he ate and drank and shortened the prayer. So you may break your fast in Makkah during the journey, even if there is no hardship in fasting, but it is better that you fast if it does not burden you.
