The Manner of Performing the Rites

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
As for the manner of performing the rites: When he reaches the miqat, and the miqats are known and defined by the Prophet (peace be upon him), there is no room for independent legal reasoning in them, when he arrives, he enters the state of ihram from the miqat, taking a bath and wearing the clothes of ihram, which are: for the man, an izar and a rida, and as for the woman, she wears what she wishes, except that she does not display her adornment, and she does not wear gloves or the face veil.

And he says if he is a mutamatti': Labbaik 'Umrah,And if he is a qarin, he says: Labbaik 'Umrah and Hajj,And if he is a mufrid, he says: (Labbaik Hajj) and he recites the talbiyah of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): (Labbaik Allahumma labbaik, labbaik la sharika laka labbaik, innal hamda wan ni'mata laka wal mulk la sharika lak) he raises his voice with it if he is a man, and he continues in this talbiyah until he begins the tawaf, if he is a mutamatti' he stops the talbiyah at the tawaf, and if he is a qarin or a mufrid he continues in his talbiyah until the day of 'Id.
When he reaches the House, he begins with the Black Stone, touching it and kissing it if that is possible, otherwise he touches it and kisses his hands, and if that is not possible, he points to it without kissing his hands,And he says at the beginning of the tawaf: Bismillah wa Allahu Akbar, Allahumma imanan bika, wa tawdhiqan bi kitabika, wa wafa'an bi 'ahdika, wa ittibaa'an li sunnati nabiyyika Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), then he places the House on his left, and he exposes his right shoulder with his rida;He exposes his right shoulder with his rida, meaning: that he places the middle of the rida under his right armpit and its ends on his left shoulder in all of the tawaf, and he runs in the first three circuits,And ramal: it is walking quickly with short steps, and he walks in the rest of the tawaf, four circuits, and when he reaches the Yemeni Corner, he touches it with his hand without kissing it or saying takbir, and when he passes the Black Stone in the second circuit, he says takbir, and he continues to say takbir when passing the Black Stone at the beginning of every circuit,And he says between the Yemeni Corner and the Black Stone:
Our Lord, give us in this world [that which is] good and in the Hereafter [that which is] good and protect us from the punishment of the Fire."رَبَّنَا آتِنَا فِي الدُّنْيَا حَسَنَةً وَفِي الْآخِرَةِ حَسَنَةً وَقِنَا عَذَابَ النَّارِ
[al-Baqarah: 201] As for the rest of his tawaf, he says what he wishes of supplication, dhikr, and Qur'an, and other things, and there is no harm if he sees someone neglecting his tawaf that he speaks to him and says: do such and such, do such and such.
And it is important to know that the Ka'bah must be on his left from the beginning of the tawaf to the end, and based on this, we know the error of what some people do when they are with women, a group of men form a circle, and some men walk with the Ka'bah behind them and some walk with the Ka'bah in front of their faces, so this tawaf is not valid; because he must place the House on his left.

When he completes seven circuits, he moves forward to the Station of Ibrahim and recites:
And take, [O believers], from the standing place of Abraham a place of prayer.وَاتَّخِذُوا مِنْ مَقَامِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ مُصَلّىً
[al-Baqarah: 125] and he prays two light rak'ahs behind it, reciting in the first after al-Fatihah:
Say, O you disbelieversقُلْ يَا أَيُّهَا الْكَافِرُونَ
[al-Kafirun: 1] and in the second:
Say, "He is Allah, [who is] One,قُلْ هُوَ اللَّهُ أَحَدٌ
[al-Ikhlas: 1] .
Then if it is possible for him, he returns to the Corner and touches it, if it is not possible, he leaves the two rak'ahs to the place of sa'y,When he approaches al-Safa, he recites:
Indeed, as-Safa and al-Marwah are among the symbols of Allahإِنَّ الصَّفَا وَالْمَرْوَةَ مِنْ شَعَائِرِ اللَّهِ
[al-Baqarah: 158] he recites it the first time only when facing it, not when he ascends nor when he faces it again, but it is recited when he approaches it the first time, he ascends al-Safa and faces the qiblah and raises his hands as he raises them in supplication,And he praises Allah, says takbir, says tahlil, and says: La ilaha illa Allah wahdahu la sharika lah, lahul mulku wa lahul hamdu wa huwa 'ala kulli shay'in qadir, la ilaha illa Allah wahdah, anjaza wa'dah, wa nasara 'abduh, wa hazamal ahzab wahdah, then he supplicates with what he wishes, then he repeats the dhikr a second time, then he supplicates with what he wishes, then he repeats the dhikr a third time, then he descends heading to al-Marwah walking, and when he reaches the first marker - the green pole and above it now (lights) green -When he reaches it, he performs sa'y, meaning: he runs as fast as he can, and it is known that in the case of crowding he cannot do so due to the crowd; because if he did this, he would harm the people and he would also be harmed, so let him walk as is possible for him, until when he reaches al-Marwah, he ascends it and does what he does on al-Safa.
And let it be known that the obligatory limit in sa'y is the end of the passages that were made for the cars,Meaning: it is not necessary to ascend to the mountain, so if he stands at the end of these passages that were made for the cars, he has completed the sa'y; because these passages are placed so that the one who rides the car has fulfilled what is obligatory upon him.

Then when he completes seven circuits: From al-Safa to al-Marwah is one circuit, and from al-Marwah to al-Safa is another circuit, the sa'y is completed, so he shortens if he is a mutamatti'.
Then he exits the state of ihram completely, he wears his clothes, he applies perfume, and he goes to his family if they are with him.
Then if it is the eighth day of Dhu al-Hijjah, he enters the state of ihram for Hajj, but if he is a qarin or a mufrid, he remains in his ihram, but it should be known that the one who enters ihram as a qarin or a mufrid and does not have a sacrificial animal, the requirement is to exit the ihram and make it an 'Umrah; because the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered his companions to do so, and because it is easier for the person, as he enjoys what Allah has made lawful for him between the 'Umrah and the Hajj.
So if it is the eighth day, if he is a mufrid or a qarin, he is in his ihram, and if he is a mutamatti', he enters the state of ihram for Hajj, so he takes a bath, applies perfume, and wears the clothes of ihram from the place where he is, if he is in Makkah, then from Makkah, and if he is in Mina, then from Mina, and if he is at 'Arafah, then from 'Arafah, and if he is in any place, he enters ihram from his place.
Then he goes out to Mina and prays there the midday prayer on the eighth day, and the afternoon, sunset, night, and dawn prayers, shortened without combining.
When the sun rises, he proceeds to 'Arafah, and he stops at Namirah if it is possible for him, otherwise he continues to 'Arafah and stops there,When the sun passes its zenith, meaning: when the time for the midday prayer enters, he prays the midday and afternoon prayers shortened and combined, as the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) did.
Then he devotes himself after that to supplication, dhikr, and reciting the Qur'an, and other things that stir his enthusiasm, and cause him humility and turning to Allah (Blessed and Exalted is He), and he persists in supplication, especially at the end of the day until the sun sets.
Then he proceeds after that to Muzdalifah, and when he reaches Muzdalifah, he prays the sunset and night prayers combined and shortened.
Then he sleeps until the dawn appears, and in this night he prays the witr, and he makes it at the end of the night if he hopes to stand in the end of the night or in the beginning of it.
Then when the dawn appears, he prays the dawn prayer, and before it the rawatib.
Then he remains in Muzdalifah, supplicating to Allah the Exalted, remembering Him, saying tahlil, and saying tasbih, until it becomes very light, then he departs from Muzdalifah heading to Mina.
When he reaches Mina, he begins first with stoning the Jamrat al-Aqabah, which is the last of the pillars, closest to Makkah, so he began with it and stoned it with seven pebbles, saying takbir with each pebble, saying: Allahu Akbar, without saying: Bismillah,He says: Allahu Akbar only; because the Sunnah came with that, then he slaughters his sacrificial animal if he is a mutamatti' or a qarin, or if he is a mufrid if he wishes to volunteer.
Then after that he shaves his head, and wears his clothes, and exits the first exit from ihram.
Then he goes down to Makkah and performs the tawaf of ifadhah, and he performs sa'y after it if he is a mutamatti', but if he is a mufrid or a qarin, if he has performed sa'y after the tawaf of arrival, the first sa'y suffices him, and if he has not performed sa'y, he performs sa'y after the tawaf of ifadhah.
Then he returns to Mina to spend the night there for two nights or three nights if he delays, and after the sun passes its zenith -Meaning: after the time for the midday prayer enters -He stons the three pillars: the first one: and it is the farthest from Makkah, he stons it with seven pebbles, saying takbir with each pebble, then he moves forward from the crowd and from being hit by the pebbles, and he stands facing the qiblah, raising his hands, supplicating to Allah the Exalted with a long supplication.
Then he goes to the middle pillar and stons it as he did with the first pillar, and he supplicates after it.
Then he stons the Jamrat al-Aqabah and does not stand after it, but he returns to his house in Mina.
So if he stons the pillars on the twelfth day, if he wishes he advances and if he wishes he delays, if he advances, he must go out before the sun sets, and if he delays, he remains until the thirteenth day and does on the thirteenth day what he did on the eleventh and twelfth days.
So if he wishes to travel to his family from Makkah, he performs the tawaf of farewell, and it is obligatory upon every pilgrim or 'umrah performer except the menstruating woman, for she is not required to perform the tawaf;According to the statement of Ibn 'Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both): [The people were ordered that their last visit be to the House, but it was made easier for the menstruating woman] .
