Prohibitions of Ihram
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
As for the prohibitions of the state of ihram: We will mention from this what has come in the Qur'an and the Sunnah. From what came in the Qur'an is the saying of Allah the Exalted: [al-Baqarah: 197]. Rafath is: intercourse. So intercourse, from the time a person enters the state of ihram until he is released by the second release, is forbidden for him, and it is the greatest of the prohibitions.
The second: Emission through physical contact, or through masturbation, or through repeated looking.
The third: Physical contact, even if there is no emission and no intercourse; because it is one of the preliminaries of intercourse, and it is not safe to assume that a person will only make contact first and then, in the next instance, have intercourse.
The fourth: Contracting the marriage;Because the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: (He who is in the state of ihram does not contract a marriage, nor does he contract one for another).
The fifth: The proposal of marriage.
The proposal of marriage, for it is forbidden;By the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): (And he does not make a proposal).
The sixth: Perfume; because of the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) regarding the one who died and was gored by his mount: (Do not embalm him - meaning, do not put perfume on him -).
The seventh: Shaving the hair of the head;By the saying of Allah (Blessed and Exalted is He): [al-Baqarah: 196].
The eighth: Wearing what the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) explicitly forbade;Where he was asked: What does the one in the state of ihram wear?He said: (He does not wear the shirt, nor the trousers, nor the turban, nor the head wrap, nor the leather socks).
The ninth: A woman wearing gloves; because the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade that, and likewise a man does not wear gloves; because they are of the same kind as the turban and its like, for the turban is a covering for the head, whereas gloves are a covering for the hands.
The tenth: Leather socks for the man only; except for one who does not find sandals, in which case he wears the leather socks.
The eleventh: Covering the head; because of the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) regarding the one who died at 'Arafah: (Do not cover his head).
The twelfth: Killing game;because of the saying of Allah the Exalted: [al-Ma'idah: 95].
Hajj is [during] well-known months, so whoever has made Hajj obligatory upon himself therein [by entering the state of ihram], there is [to be for him] no sexual relations and no disobedience and no disputing during Hajj. And whatever good you do - Allah knows it. And take provisions, but indeed, the best provision is fear of Allah. And fear Me, O you of understanding.
فَمَنْ فَرَضَ فِيهِنَّ الْحَجَّ فَلا رَفَثَThe second: Emission through physical contact, or through masturbation, or through repeated looking.

And do not shave your heads until the sacrificial animal has reached its place of slaughter
