Prohibitions of Ihram

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, and upon his family and his Companions, and upon those who follow them with excellence until the Day of Judgment.

To proceed: This is the twenty-seventh meeting after the two hundred of the meetings known as the Open Door Meeting, which takes place every Thursday, and this Thursday is the eighteenth of Dhul-Qa'dah in the year 1420 AH.

We begin this meeting by mentioning the prohibitions of ihram, namely: the things that are prevented because of ihram. This is because, by the wisdom of Allah (Mighty and Majestic), He has established conditions for acts of worship that are not completed without them, and He established for them preventers, namely: and prohibitions that sometimes invalidate them, which is the general rule. The general rule is that prohibitions invalidate acts of worship, but sometimes they do not invalidate them for a reason.

The prohibitions of ihram: These are the things that are prohibited because of ihram. As for general matters, they are not among the prohibitions of ihram. Allah has forbidden open sinfulness in Hajj,He said:
no sexual relations and no disobedienceفَلا رَفَثَ وَلا فُسُوقَ
[al-Baqarah: 197] but is it among the prohibitions of ihram, or is it prohibited in all circumstances?
It is prohibited in all circumstances, so it is not among the prohibitions of ihram.
