Exegesis of the saying of Allah the Exalted: (O you who believe, let not a people mock another people)]
Allah, Mighty and Majestic, says, among the many etiquettes and noble morals that Allah has set forth for His servants: [Al-Hujurat: 11] .
Mockery: It is mockery and contempt. It is well known that Allah the Exalted has placed people in this worldly life in different ranks,So Allah the Exalted said: [Al-Zukhruf: 32] meaning: so that some of them may mock others in matters of benefit, but the intended meaning here is not mockery,And Allah the Exalted said: [Al-Isra: 21] .
Once this preference among people is established, they differ in knowledge, with some being more knowledgeable than others, in the sciences of the Shari'ah and the sciences of the means, such as the sciences of the Arabic language, including grammar, rhetoric, and others.
They also differ in sustenance, with some having their sustenance expanded and others having their sustenance restricted.
They also differ in morals, with some possessing noble, high morals and others being below that.
They differ in physical constitution, with some having a sound constitution and others being below that; the important point is that they differ.
They also differ in lineage, with some having noble lineage and ancestry, and others being below that.
So is it permissible for anyone to mock someone who is below them?In this verse, Allah, Mighty and Majestic, says: [Al-Hujurat: 11] Here, He, Exalted and Majestic is He, addresses us with the attribute of faith, and forbids us from mocking one another, because the One who grants preference is Allah, Mighty and Majestic. And if it is He, then mocking this person who is below you necessitates that you are mocking the decree of Allah, Mighty and Majestic, and this is what is implied by the saying of the Messenger, peace and blessings be upon him: (Do not curse time, for Allah is time) ,And in the Qudsi Hadith: (The son of Adam harms Me by cursing time, and I am time. I control the matter, I turn the night and the day) So why do you mock this man who is below you in knowledge, or in wealth, or in character, or in constitution, or in lineage, or in ancestry? Why? Is not the One who granted you the preference Allah, and the One who deprived him of it, in your view, Allah, Mighty and Majestic?! Therefore, Allah the Exalted said: (PERHAPS THEY ARE BETTER THAN THEM) Perhaps one who mocks today will be mocked tomorrow, and perhaps one who is considered inferior today will be superior tomorrow, and this is a tested reality, and in some narrations, it is reported from the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, that he said: (Whoever rebukes his brother for a sin will not die until he commits it) And in the narration also: [Do not show schadenfreude over your brother, lest Allah cure him and test you] .
Therefore, it is obligatory for a person to be well-mannered with what Allah has taught him, so he does not mock others
Allah, Mighty and Majestic, says, among the many etiquettes and noble morals that Allah has set forth for His servants:
O you who have believed, let not a people ridicule [another] people; perhaps they may be better than them
يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا لا يَسْخَرْ قَوْمٌ مِنْ قَوْمٍ عَسَى أَنْ يَكُونُوا خَيْراً مِنْهُمْMockery: It is mockery and contempt. It is well known that Allah the Exalted has placed people in this worldly life in different ranks,So Allah the Exalted said:
Do they distribute the mercy of your Lord? It is We who have apportioned among them their livelihood in the life of this world and have raised some of them above others in degrees [of rank] that they may make use of one another for service
Look how We have favored [in provision] some of them over others. But the Hereafter is greater in degrees [of difference] and greater in distinction.
Once this preference among people is established, they differ in knowledge, with some being more knowledgeable than others, in the sciences of the Shari'ah and the sciences of the means, such as the sciences of the Arabic language, including grammar, rhetoric, and others.
