The benefits of the saying of Allah the Exalted: ((But you are amazed and they mock. And when they are reminded, they do not remember. And when they see a sign, they mock. And they say, "This is nothing but clear sorcery."))

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Allah the Exalted said:
(12) But you wonder, while they mock, (13) And when they are reminded, they remember not.
[As-Saffat 37:12-13]
up to the end. Among the benefits of these verses:
First, affirming amazement for Allah Mighty and Majestic, based on the reading with the tashdid on the taa. This is one of the attributes of action of Allah, because it is connected to His will. And everything connected to His will is an attribute of action according to the scholars. So, if someone asks, "Who teaches us that it is connected to His will?" The answer is that every attribute connected to a cause is an attribute of action, because causes are created, and what follows from the created is created. Based on this, we say that satisfaction is an attribute of action because it has a cause, as are anger, dislike, and wrath, and the like. Thus, we know the path of the people of the Sunnah and the community regarding such an attribute: affirming it for Allah in the manner befitting Him, not in a manner of deficiency or imperfection.
Among its benefits is also the high rank of the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him), based on the reading with the fathah, where Allah Mighty and Majestic considered His amazement as an amazement that He mentions in His saying:
But you are amazed
It is known that the one whose state is mentioned is great in the eyes of the one who mentions it, unlike the one who is not cared for or taken seriously. Therefore, among people, if a king becomes angry, it is not like the anger of other people. You will hear it said, "The king spoke and became angry." But if one of the common people, from the general public, were to erupt... in anger, people would talk about it. So, Allah mentioning the amazement of the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) indicates his high rank with Allah and the greatness of his status (peace and blessings be upon him).
And among the benefits of the noble verses is that these people who denied the truth increased in their transgression, so they began to mock the people of truth who denied the truth. They increased in their transgression until they mocked the truth and the people of truth. For this reason, Allah the Exalted said:
and they mock ويسخرون
Meaning, while you are amazed at their state, they are mocking what you have brought and mocking you. This is the habit of the enemies of the messengers: they mock the messengers, what they brought, and what they do. Also, Allah the Exalted said about Noah:
(38) And he constructed the ship, and whenever an assembly of the eminent of his people passed by him, they ridiculed him. He said, "If you ridicule us, then we will ridicule you just as you ridicule. (39) And you are going to know who will get a punishment that will disgrace him [on earth] and upon whom will descend an enduring punishment [in the Hereafter]."
[Hud 11:38-39]

From this benefit, we derive another benefit: it is obligatory for the callers to truth to be patient with the mockery they receive from people, because the enemies of the messengers are more numerous than the friends of the messengers. How many are the enemies of the messengers among the children of Adam? Nine hundred and ninety-nine out of a thousand. So they are more numerous than the friends of the messengers. Therefore, the callers to truth must be patient when they hear someone mocking them, whether these mockers are from the disbelievers or from the friends of the disbelievers, because there are some among the believers, or more accurately, among the Muslims, who are friends of the disbelievers. It is obligatory for the callers to be patient, because the messengers, who are the people of truth, the leaders of truth, and the imams of truth, were mocked by people. So how about you? It is obligatory for you to be patient. It is obligatory for every caller to be patient with the mockery that befalls him, and let him know that the outcome is for the righteous.
And among the benefits of the noble verse is the arrogance of these deniers of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), because when they are reminded, they do not remember and do not take a lesson, due to the hardness of their hearts and their arrogance. We ask Allah for pardon and well-being. This is the opposite of the believers, who, when they are reminded of the verses of their Lord, do not turn away from them as if they were deaf and blind.
And among its benefits is also that these deniers, when they see a sign indicating the truth of the messengers, increase in mockery and arrogance:
And when they see a sign, they ridicule
[As-Saffat 37:14]
This is above the previous mockery, because he said:
and they mock ويسخرون
But these, when they see a sign, it is supposed that if they see a sign, they should submit, but they are the opposite of that:
and when they see a sign, they mock
And it is amazing regarding the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) about those who lied, that they said:
O Allah, if this should be the truth from You, then rain down upon us stones from the sky or bring us a painful punishment." اللهم إن كان هذا هو الحق من عندك فأمطر علينا حجارة من السماء أو ائتنا بعذاب أليم
[Al-Anfal 8:32]
They should have said, "O Allah, if this is truth from You, then guide us to it and help us to it." But that they say this is the greatest proof that they, may Allah protect us, are transgressors and arrogant. And among the benefits of the noble verse is that the enemies of the messengers describe what they brought with ugly characteristics to deter people from them. It is derived from his saying:
and they said, "This is nothing but clear magic" وقالوا إن هذا إلا سحر مبين
And they are liars in that; they know it is not true, but they said this to deter people from the path of the messengers.
So, did this statement pass down? The answer is yes. This statement has been passed down from the first of the messengers to our time and until the Day of Resurrection. Allah the Exalted said:
Similarly, there came not to those before them any messenger except that they said, "A magician or a madman."
[Al-Dhariyat: 52] Every enemy of the messengers says, "This is a sorcerer" or "a madman." This word, and I mean the general type of this word, not the specific type, has been passed down. So the people of falsehood now label the people of truth with bad titles.
Look, for example, at the people of ta'til (denial of the divine attributes). What do they label the people of affirmation with? They say they are Hashawiyyah, Mujassimah, Mushabbihah, and the like. Do you understand? They say this kind of speech in order to deter people from the path of truth. Similarly, the enemies of the people of truth say, "These are reactionaries," "These are rigid," "These are extremists," "These are strict," "These are hypocritical," and other such titles. But the people of truth, who are their true people, do not increase with these titles except in strength and steadfastness in what they are upon, because they know that they will be victorious with the victory of Allah:
O you who have believed, if you support Allah, He will support you and plant firmly your feet.
[Muhammad 47:7]
And I have repeated to you many times that a person's victory is not just the victory of his person. A person may be victorious in his life and the victory becomes clear to him, or he may be victorious after his death. How is he victorious after his death? He is victorious after his death by the victory of the truth he spoke. And everyone who acts upon the truth that he brought or clarified will have a reward like his. And this is the victory of every person who loves that the truth he clarified to people be victorious in his life or after his death.
