The ruling on the one who joins the prayer late making up what he missed before his imam’s closing salam

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
What is the validity of the prayer of one who caught up with the imam in the last rak'ah on the roof, thought that the imam had said the closing salam, and stood up to make up what he missed, only to find out that the imam had not said the salam? Does that count as a rak'ah for him?
If the one who joins the prayer late stands up to make up what he missed, thinking that the imam had said the closing salam, and it turns out that he had not, he must go back. When the imam says the salam, he stands up and makes up what he missed, then he performs the prostration for forgetfulness after the salam.
