The second question of Fatwa No. ( 16817 )
Q2: It is customary among us that if someone misses, for example, two rak'ahs of the 'Isha' prayer, he makes them up after the imam's taslim, reciting aloud, meaning he recites al-Fatihah and the surah afterwards aloud. Is this correct or not?
A2: The correct view is that what the masbuq catches up with in the prayer is the beginning of his prayer, and what he performs after his imam's taslim is the end of it; based on the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):Sahih al-Bukhari 635 , and in another narration: ( "So make up what you missed" ), and its meaning is: complete it; because qada' is used for completion, just as Allah
the Exalted said:[Al-Baqarah 2:200] And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
