The Ruling on Beating a Child Before the Age of Ten

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Honorable Shaykh! Is it permissible to beat a child under the age of ten to make him pray? And is he beaten for other than prayer, such as for discipline? And at what age is he beaten?
As for beating him for prayer, it is not permissible before the age of ten; because the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) specified that age.
And as for beating him for discipline, there is nothing wrong with it, even before the age of ten, if he benefits from it and becomes disciplined.
He is beaten at ten for prayer and for other than prayer. At the age where he benefits from discipline, he is beaten. And the beating is restricted in all its circumstances to being non-harmful.
