The Ruling on Disposing of the Excess Wealth Beyond What the Testator Bequeathed

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Honorable Shaykh! I have a grandfather who passed away, and he had a house rented out for two riyals. He bequeathed it as a sacrifice for the festival. This house was appraised and the money was invested until it has now become close to one hundred and fifty thousand, consisting of shares in the electricity company, lands, and liquid funds. What is your opinion, Honorable Shaykh? Can the bequest be spent on the sacrifice and the rest of the amount be used for various charitable causes? Or what should I do with it, especially since I am confused?
But is the bequest with you now so that we can look at it?The questioner: No; but it is an old one,Meaning: Perhaps from the fourth or fifth grandfather.

The Shaykh: We must look at it. After we look at the paper, if Allah wills, we will discuss it, and write down the wording of the question for me so that I can issue a ruling based on the question.
