The Ruling on Delaying the Regular Voluntary Prayers Beyond Their Time

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Your Eminence! Peace be upon you. What is the ruling on delaying the regular voluntary prayers (rawatib) to another time,Meaning: such as when the time for the midday prayer (Zuhr) has passed, one begins the regular voluntary prayer in the time of the afternoon prayer ('Asr), or from the sunset prayer (Maghrib) to the night prayer ('Isha')?

I will give you a rule that will benefit you, if Allah wills: Any time-bound act of worship that a person delays beyond its time without an excuse is not accepted from him, whether it is an obligatory prayer or a voluntary one. The regular voluntary prayers (rawatib) are time-bound or not time-bound.

The questioner: They are time-bound.

The Shaykh: They are time-bound. If you delay them beyond their time without an excuse, they will not be accepted from you. If you delay them for an excuse, then when the excuse is removed, pray them.As the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and his family said: (Whoever sleeps through a prayer or forgets it, let him pray it when he remembers it. There is no expiation for it except that.)
