Exegesis of the saying of Allah the Exalted: (There is no repeller for it)]
His statement:[At-Tur 52:7] Meaning: It is bound to occur, but is this affirmation regarding the punishment of the believers or the punishment of the disbelievers? Let us look,Allah the Exalted said: [Al-Ma'arij: 1-3] Combining this verse with the verse in Al-Tur, you will find that His saying: [Al-Tur: 7-8] is regarding the disbelievers. So the punishment of Allah upon the disbelievers has no repeller; no one can repel it, neither before it occurs nor after it occurs. For this reason, intercession does not benefit them to have the punishment lifted from them.
As for the punishment of Allah for the believer, the original ruling is that it occurs. Every sin for which Allah has threatened with punishment, the original ruling is that it occurs. However, it may be lifted by the grace of Allah the Mighty and Majestic. It may be lifted by intercession, or it may be lifted by good deeds that overwhelm the bad deeds.Have you not seen that Allah says: [An-Nisa: 48] , Did you not know that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: (No Muslim dies and forty men who do not associate anything with Allah stand over his funeral prayer, except that Allah intercedes for him through them) and the punishment is lifted from him.
And with this we say: The punishment of Allah is bound to occur upon the disbelievers, and there is no repeller for it. As for the sinners among the believers, the original ruling is that it occurs. What prevents it, when Allah has warned the servants, frightened them, and made it clear to them? But despite that, it may be lifted by multiple causes.
Allah the Exalted said: [Al-Tur: 8] (Ma) is a negation, and (Dafi') is a postponed subject upon which (Min) was added for emphasis,Meaning: No one, no matter how great his status and power, can repel the punishment of Allah the Mighty and Majestic, ever. He does not prevent it and he does not lift it; because (Dafi') includes both prevention and lifting; it includes prevention before it occurs and lifting after it occurs. No one repels the punishment of Allah; he does not prevent it from descending, nor does he lift it when it descends. Rather, that is for Allah alone.
We ask Allah the Exalted to treat us and you with His pardon, and to forgive us what has passed of our sins and what is present. Indeed, He is capable of all things.
His statement:
Indeed, the punishment of your Lord will occur.
إِنَّ عَذَابَ رَبِّكَ لَوَاقِعٌ(1) A supplicant asked for a punishment bound to happen (2) To the disbelievers; of it there is no preventer. (3) [It is] from Allah, owner of the ways of ascent.
سَأَلَ سَائِلٌ بِعَذَابٍ وَاقِعٍ * لِلْكَافِرِينَ لَيْسَ لَهُ دَافِعٌ * مِنَ اللَّهِ ذِي الْمَعَارِجِ(7) Indeed, the punishment of your Lord will occur. (8) Of it there is no preventer.
إِنَّ عَذَابَ رَبِّكَ لَوَاقِعٌ * مَا لَهُ مِنْ دَافِعٍAs for the punishment of Allah for the believer, the original ruling is that it occurs. Every sin for which Allah has threatened with punishment, the original ruling is that it occurs. However, it may be lifted by the grace of Allah the Mighty and Majestic. It may be lifted by intercession, or it may be lifted by good deeds that overwhelm the bad deeds.Have you not seen that Allah says:
Indeed, Allah does not forgive association with Him, but He forgives what is less than that for whom He wills
إِنَّ اللَّهَ لا يَغْفِرُ أَنْ يُشْرَكَ بِهِ وَيَغْفِرُ مَا دُونَ ذَلِكَ لِمَنْ يَشَاءُAnd with this we say: The punishment of Allah is bound to occur upon the disbelievers, and there is no repeller for it. As for the sinners among the believers, the original ruling is that it occurs. What prevents it, when Allah has warned the servants, frightened them, and made it clear to them?
