Saliva does not break the fast

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Regarding saliva, does it break the fast? The Shaykh: Saliva does not break the fast by consensus, and no one can say that it does. However, collecting saliva and swallowing it is what some scholars said: that it breaks the fast, but the correct view is also that it does not break the fast; because you have not put any food or drink into your stomach. This is saliva that came from the stomach and returned to it.Therefore, the stronger view is also: Phlegm does not break the fast, even if it reaches the mouth and the person swallows it, it does not break the fast. But a person should not swallow it, for the scholars have forbidden that; because it is a disgusting thing and it is not befitting for a person to swallow it. But if he gargles because of thirst, does it break the fast? If he swallows the water, he breaks the fast without doubt, and if he does not swallow it, it does not break the fast.
