The ruling on attributing the descent of rain or the arrival of good to the coming of a specific person
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner: If a person arrives among a group of people, and then rain or good comes to them, and they say, “This is because of the coming of so-and-so to us,” or “This is by the blessing of the coming of so-and-so to us,” what is the ruling on this? The Shaykh: The ruling on this is that it is a statement made without knowledge. And Allah, Blessed and Exalted is He, said: [Al-Isra: 36] .
But there is no doubt that when the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) took in those he took in, such as his uncle, Allah sent down a blessing for him. However, this appears to be specific to the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him). As for others, it is not permissible to attribute astronomical events to a specific person; because if we adopted this principle, and then a person arrived and storms of wind or crashing thunder occurred during his arrival, would we say: This is the ill omen of so-and-so? No, it is not permissible to say this. But if it happens that a person arrives in a town and rain comes, there is no harm in saying: This is from the grace of Allah (Mighty and Majestic) that the rain came because of your arrival. But it must be because of your arrival. So there is a difference between the one who makes his arrival the cause of the rain and the one who sees that this is from the grace of Allah (Mighty and Majestic) that He sent down the rain because of his arrival.
And do not pursue that of which you have no knowledge. Indeed, the hearing, the sight and the heart - about all those [one] will be questioned.
But there is no doubt that when the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) took in those he took in, such as his uncle, Allah sent down a blessing for him.
