The Form of Seeking Forgiveness and Its Virtue

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
O honorable Shaykh! What is the form of seeking forgiveness? And what is the virtue of seeking forgiveness? The Shaykh: I think you are from Unaizah.

The questioner: No, I am from al-Ras.

The questioner: The form of seeking forgiveness, and the virtue of seeking forgiveness; because one of the brothers was rebuked for supplicating with "I seek forgiveness from Allah, there is no deity but He, and I repent to Him", "I seek Your forgiveness for every great sin". He said: No, there is no such thing as "for every great sin"!

Seeking forgiveness is for a person to say: "O Allah, forgive me" or he says: "I seek Allah's forgiveness and I repent to Him" or he says the Master of Seeking Forgiveness: "O Allah, You are my Lord, there is no deity but You. You created me and I am Your servant. I am faithful to Your covenant and Your promise as much as I am able. I seek refuge in You from the evil of what I have done. I acknowledge Your favor upon me and I acknowledge my sin. So forgive me my sin, for there is none who forgives sins but You".
And there is no blame on a person for adding something, but not with the intention of worshipping Allah with it, but rather as a form of open supplication. For example: "I seek Allah's forgiveness and I repent to Him for every sin" and the like. And the preachers used to say on the minbars: "I have said what I have said, and I seek Allah's forgiveness for myself, for you, and for all Muslims for every sin. So seek His forgiveness, for He is the Oft-Forgiving, the Most Merciful."And there is no blame in saying: "O Allah, forgive me," or "I seek Allah's forgiveness for every great sin," or the like. There is nothing wrong with that. Yes.
