Question:
Your Eminence is asked about the virtue of seeking forgiveness and remembrance of Allah. May Allah reward you with good.
Answer:
Seeking forgiveness and remembrance of Allah are among the greatest acts of drawing near to Him. Allah has prescribed for His servants to seek forgiveness. He said, (Exalted and Majestic is He): [Al-Muzzammil: 20]. So seeking forgiveness is among the best means of drawing near to Allah, and the servant is in the greatest need of it. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Sahih al-Bukhari 6307 (peace and blessings be upon him).
So it is prescribed for the believer to increase in seeking forgiveness and remembrance of Allah in his days and nights, for in that lies great good. Allah said, (Exalted and Majestic is He): [Al-Ahzab: 41-42]. And He said, (Exalted and Majestic is He): [Al-Ahzab: 35], after He mentioned a group of great attributes of the believers. And He said, (Exalted and Majestic is He): [Al-Jumu'ah: 10], meaning: on Friday: [Al-Jumu'ah: 10]. And the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said in an authentic hadith: They said: O Messenger of Allah! Who are the ones who have gone ahead? He said: Sahih Muslim 2676.
So it is prescribed for the believer to increase in seeking forgiveness and remembrance of Allah, and likewise the believing woman, at all times. Yes.
